Pegasus Foundation seeks partners for information technologies projects in schools The Pegasus Foundation, an organization founded by MEPs to promote the European identity through educational projects in cultural heritage, is interested in forming partnerships with major parties in information technology. The Foundation's major project is called "Schools ad... The Pegasus Foundation, an organization founded by MEPs to promote the European identity through educational projects in cultural heritage, is interested in forming partnerships with major parties in information technology. The Foundation's major project is called "Schools adopt monuments", and involves more than 700 schools and 160,000 pupils in 15 European countries. The goal of the project is to acquaint children with their local and European heritage in an innovative "hands-on" way. From March 1996, a multimedia component to this project will be established. This will be the first Europe-wide initiative to put schools online, so that they can use advanced communications technologies to produce and communicate material relating to the adoption of historical monuments in European towns, whilst learning to use the tools of the Global Information Society. Further projects under development include one involving the cooperation of major European museums and IT industries, which aims to make museum collections accessible to schools. It is in this area that the Foundation is seeking partnerships with major IT companies.
