The European Community is setting up a research programme to create a scientific basis for a harmonized definition of models which will determine the effects of snow on the loadbearing parts of structures. The European Commission, DG III, has therefore published an invitation to tender for a study concerning these effects. The study covers two consecutive phases: - Phase I: . Development of models for the evaluation of snow masses on the ground; . Development of models for the evaluation of exceptional snow masses; - Phase II: . Definition of criteria to be adopted for the evaluation of snow masses with respect to servicing conditions; . An analytical study to define the coefficients of roof forms. The nature of the contract is the provision of an intellectual-type service. The tender documents may be requested from: European Commission DG III - Industry Division III/D-3 Mr. P.
