Interchange of data between administrations - EDI project

The European Commission, DG XXI, has launched an invitation to tender for two lots of support services related to the interchange of data between administrations (IDA) in the EDI (electronic data interchange) project.

The two lots are as follows:

- Lot 1: EDI support to DG XXI projects (EDISUP): EDI strategy management, EDI message design and profiling, specification and integration of EDI methods and tools, EDI consultancy, contribution to international groups of EDI experts, provision of EDI expertise in the areas of:
. Project planning and monitoring;
. EDI strategy management for the customs and indirect taxation area;
. Integration of EDI in client/server applications;
. Support to groups of EDI experts (European Board for EDI Standardization (EBES) Expert Group 3 (EG3) - Customs and Taxation, EC EDI Working Group (EDIWG) and others);

- Lot 2: EDI Project Office (EDIPO): General support to the EDI Project Office, project control, quality assurance and control, technical consultancy, provision of expertise in the areas of:
. Project planning and monitoring;
. Quality control of EDI deliverables.

Both lots will require a high level of responsiveness; the ability to adapt to the rapidly evolving requirements of the EDI/Customs and Indirect Taxation projects at short notice is of paramount importance.

Owing to the nature of the two lots, they will be awarded to separate independent tenderers. Project members must be able to attend ad-hoc meetings at EC premises in Brussels at one day's notice.

The projects are expected to start in December 1996, with both lots to be completed within three years. Tenderers must demonstrate experience and ability in the project area, and demonstrate linguistic ability in sufficient Member State languages to complete the project satisfactorily.

Questions regarding this tender will be answered during a briefing planned for 12 July 1996 (14.00-17.00) at office MDB 3/11, 46 rue du Luxembourg, B-1040 Brussels.
