Guidelines for national, regional and local monitoring of ambient noise levels and exposure

The European Environment Agency (EEA) is awarding a study contract to establish guidelines for consistent national, regional and local monitoring of ambient noise levels and exposure.

The study forms the first step of an agency project within its programme on media-oriented monitoring. The study is intended, on the basis of a review of methods and experience in local authorities and relevant institutions in EEA member countries (the 15 EU Member States, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), to establish guidelines for the production and presentation of comparable data on ambient noise and exposure relevant at the European level for policy making and assessment by the European Commission and member countries.
