The European Commission, DG XII, is inviting suggestions for priorities for the forthcoming call for project proposals under the INCO-COPERNICUS programme for RTD cooperation with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union. The call is due to be published in March 1997.

The first INCO-COPERNICUS call received over 1,900 proposals, of which only 261 could be selected. These 261 projects received total Community funding of ECU 70 million. Since the second call will only have ECU 30 million available for funding, the Commission wishes to concentrate the call on specific priorities for Central and Eastern Europe and the New Independent States, and therefore invites interested parties to submit suggestions on how to focus the areas of the call or add new areas not covered by other specific Community RTD programmes.
