The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) has published a report on the ENRICH (European Network for Research in Global Change) Workshop on "Capacity development in the human dimensions of global environmental change". The workshop, which was organized on the initiative of DG XII (ENRICH) of the European Commission, was held in Edinburgh, UK, on 9-10 October 1995.

Intended to contribute to the wider task of examining the role of ENRICH in promoting collaborative research between European and African organizations, the workshop brought together 25 researchers and research administrators from Africa, Europe and North America. It aimed to review how best to support collaborative programmes of research with African organizations and ensure that they contribute towards capacity strengthening within the countries concerned. The discussions focused mainly on issues related to environmental change at global and local level.
