Information relating to service contracts to be awarded under the PHARE aid programme for the Central and Eastern European countries will, from now on, be published on the World Wide Web (Europa server). Indeed, due to the very short deadlines allowed for these service tenders, they will no longer be published in the Official Journal, as other PHARE tenders for supply and works are, but only on the Web.

The service contracts are awarded following restricted tendering procedure. Companies must apply to be included in the shortlist to tender for each contract offered. In addition, companies must be included on the PHARE and TACIS central consultancy register. Companies wishing to be shortlisted for a particular tender must express interest in that tender using the official PHARE "Expression of interest form". This may also be found on the Web.

These procedures are still relatively new and currently apply only to contracts handled by PHARE's services in Brussels. By November 1996, they will be extended to contracts handled by the programme management units in the partner countries and, by 1997, it is expected that all PHARE service contracts will be handled in this way.
