INTAS, the International Association for the promotion of co-operation with scientists from the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union, has launched a call for proposals for cooperative research projects. Projects should involve researchers from members of INTAS (EU Member States and Israel, Norway and Switzerland) and from the New Independent States. The budget available for this call is ECU 19 million. Proposals are invited for joint projects in the following areas: - Physics, astronomy, astrophysics; - Mathematics, telecommunications, information technology; - Chemistry; - Life sciences; - Earth sciences, environment, energy; - Engineering sciences, mechanics, aeronautics, space; - Economics, social and human sciences. To be eligible for selection, projects must involve at least four participants (two from INTAS members and two from the New Independent States). Projects should last for a minimum of two years and a maximum of three years. Special conditions have been established for projects involving Kazakhstan, with an additional specific fund of ECU 1 million available for proposals involving two or more partners from Kazakhstan.
