The Community's specific RTD programme in the field of industrial and materials technologies (BRITE/EURAM III) has launched a new home page on the CORDIS World Wide Web server.

The BRITE/EURAM home page is the latest of the Fourth Framework Programme's specific programmes to launch its own dedicated information service on the CORDIS server. The introduction of this new service coincides with the launch of the third call for proposals for the BRITE/EURAM programme and the site notably provides electronic access to the BRITE/EURAM Information Package and Work Programme for 1997 which should be used in the preparation of proposals.

The 1997 BRITE/EURAM Information Package and Work Programme can either be browsed on the Web or downloaded from the CORDIS Document Library. The Information Package provides essential information on the overall aims and objectives of the programme, rules for participation and the preparation of proposals. It also gives details of important contacts points and services from which potential participants in the programme may obtain supplementary information and assistance.

Synopses of over 200 projects selected under the programme's first call for proposals can be consulted under the "Project Summaries" section. These provide valuable examples of the kinds of projects already supported by the programme. In addition, regular updates on programme activities are given in "BRITE/EURAM News". This includes information on forthcoming events, the outcome of calls and ongoing projects and activities.

The BRITE/EURAM home page aims to provide a complete information resource for those interested in Community-funded research activities in the industrial and materials technologies sector. The service will be regularly expanded and updated to meet the requirements of users. All feedback is welcome.
