The European Commission is organizing a conference on priority actions needed for the completion of the Single Market. The aim of the conference, which is to be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 7 March 1997, is to get as wide as possible a range of opinions on the measures needed to complete the Single Market. The Commission is in the process of developing an Action Plan on the completion of the Single Market which will be presented to the Amsterdam European Council in June 1997. The Action Plan is the result of consultations on the communication on the "Impact and effectiveness of the Single Market", adopted by the Commission in October 1996. The conference will mark the completion of this consultation period. The conference will consider the following four themes, which will be developed in the Action Plan: - Improved implementation and enforcement of Single Market legislation; - Simplification of the legislative framework at Community and national level; - Completion of the legislative framework at Community level; - Development of Community policies relevant to the Single Market.
