A book of proceedings of the workshop, held in Brussels on 6 November 1997 during the ACTS concertation meeting, entitled "ACTS meets the regions" has been published. The workshop was organized by the EPRI-Watch project, with the aim of forming links between ACTS projects and regions, in particular with a view to focusing on regional needs in the field of communications services.

ACTS is the European Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Advanced Communications Technologies and Services. The programme supports a variety of cooperative projects aimed at developing new telecommunications services and capabilities.

The book contains summaries of introductory speeches outlining topics such as telecoms liberalization, regional needs and priorities, the Information Society and cohesion and industrial change, and pilot projects with a regional focus. The remainder of the book contains details of presentations made by representatives of a number of ACTS projects. In addition, there were also presentations from a number of projects supported by the Regional Information Society Initiative (RISI), funded by the Community's Structural Funds.
