The European Commission has published the 1995 annual report of the European network of testing facilities for the quality checking of radioactive waste packages.

The network was created in 1992 by the Commission, with the aim of promoting and facilitating collaboration in the development, application and standardization of quality checking for radioactive waste packages. The network's members are laboratories in the EU Member States which are involved in carrying out regulatory checks on waste packages.

The 1995 annual report, the first, describes the organization and objectives of the network. The activities of the following five working groups established by the member laboratories are outlined in the report:

- Non-destructive assay by gamma measurements;
- Measurement of volatile releases from waste packages;
- Quality assurance and quality control;
- Active and passive neutron assay;
- Chemical and radiochemical destructive analysis.
