The Commission of the European Communities invites expressions of interest for studies and pilot projects relating to the conservation and management of fishery resources in the Mediterranean. The priority areas in which these studies are to be undertaken are set out in Council Regulation (EEC) No 3499/91 of 28.11.1991 (published in OJ No L 331 of 3.12.1991), which provides a Community framework in this context. With a view to a Community financial contribution for 1992, the following areas are encompassed in accordance with Article 1 of the Regulation:
- Demersal resources, including deep-water fisheries;
- Selectivity of main fishing gear;
- Socio-economic aspects of the main Mediterranean fisheries;
- Information systems for management purposes in the Mediterranean;
- Organization of seminars on fishery conservation and management;
- Consultation between authorities and professionals.

Specific topics within the above areas are set out in the call for expressions of interest and in the Regulation.
