European audiovisual events carried out in partnership - 1998 call for proposals

The European Commission, DG X, has published a call for proposals for events carried out in partnership and European cooperation schemes in the audiovisual field to be held in 1998.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage, through cooperation, the production and distribution of European works, and promote greater familiarity with the European cinema and Europe's audiovisual heritage. The call for proposals is open to projects taking place within the Member States (and under special arrangements, in certain associated countries) in the following fields:

- Scheme 1: Support for audiovisual events carried out in partnership (partnerships involving operators from at least eight Member States, or collaborative activities involving operators from at least three Member States):
. 1a: Film festivals or audiovisual programmes (animated material, documentaries, feature films - shorts or full length);
. 1b: Festivals devoted to new types of image technology;
. 1c: Special subject gatherings of European professionals in the audiovisual industry.

- Scheme 2: Support for cooperative ventures between European audiovisual events: The Commission aims to support projects involving exchanges of information and experience and developing networks between audiovisual festivals. Projects supported under this scheme should involve events organized in eight Member States.

The Commission will contribute up to 25% of the costs of projects in Scheme 1 and up to 50% of the costs of projects in Scheme 2.
