The network of EuroInfo Centres established throughout the European Union provide information and assistance to SMEs on all aspects of European policies, programmes and initiatives.

Although in general terms EuroInfo Centres are not specialists in any particular field, a number of specialized groups have been established to provide improved support in key areas. These key areas, 16 in all, have been selected either because of their significance for SMEs, or for their priority position in European Community policy. The specialized groups are as follows:

- Craft and micro-enterprises;
- Information on the internal market;
- VAT;
- Public markets;
- Research and development;
- Standardization/certification/quality;
- Structural Funds;
- Training programmes;
- Central and Eastern European countries;
- Mediterranean;
- Asia;
- Information Society;
- Textile and clothing;
- Information on markets and cooperation;
- Environment.

The members of each specialized group meet regularly and on an "ad hoc" basis, to ensure the greatest possible flow of information and experience. The expertise of the specialized groups is available to the EuroInfo Centres network as a whole, as well as to enterprises in the groups' local areas. The groups are also able to develop innovative products and services to help SMEs participate in European programmes, or apply European standards to products and services, and therefore ease access to the Single Market.
