The European Information Technology Observatory (EITO), a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) sector, has published its annual yearbook for 1997.

The EITO yearbook presents the most comprehensive and up-to-date data available on the ICT market in Europe. The latest edition, EITO '97, analyses the current European ICT market, providing a statistical and economic forecast for the forthcoming years. EITO'97 consists of three major parts:

- Part One:
. Information and Communications Technology in Europe: The European Commission's View (by Stefano Micossi, Director General of DG III-Industry, European Commission);
. The Industry's View (by Bruno Lamborghini, President of EUROBIT);
. The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Market in Europe: Key Technological Trends and Standards;

EITO is supported, among others, by the European Commission (DG III). Its members include the European Association of Manufacturers of Business Machines and Information Technology Industry (EUROBIT), the European Telecommunications and Professional Electronics Industry (ECTEL), and the CeBIT, SMAU and SIMO TCI International Trade Fairs.
