The European Commission, DG III, has launched a call for proposals concerning support and guidance to the procurement of information and telecommunication systems and services. The call falls within the framework of the standardization policy in the information and communications technologies (ICT) field (SPRITE-S2). Organizations are invited to submit proposals for two types of action: - Application, validation and demonstration of existing and new methodologies and tools, which are of support and guidance in the procurement of ICT systems and services and are based on open specifications; - Awareness building and promotion, for example in the form of training tools and show cases demonstrating best practice. Proposals should normally be submitted by consortia involving at least two partners from different Member States. The priorities identified in the work programme are as follows: - Procurement methodologies and tools in response to evolving market conditions; - Emerging special needs from user groups; - Comparative analysis of procurement practices; - Rapid response to evolving procurement issues, such as the "millennium bug"; - Tools for education and awareness. Detailed information for submission of proposals may be obtained from: European Commission DG III - Industry Unit B/3 - Standardization: integration in Community policies and actions SPRITE-S2 Secretariat 200 rue de la Loi (SC-15 1/161) B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2991675 E-mail: anne.holmes@dg3.cec.be Information may also be found on the World Wide Web, at: http://www.ispo.cec.be/
