Development and implementation of a GIS database for use in mine action programmes in the SADC region

The European Commission, DG VIII, has published a call for expression of interest relating to the provision of technical assistance for the development and implementation of a GIS (geographical information system) database for use in the SADC (Southern African Development Community) region.

The Commission is presently looking for an expert to fill the position of project coordinator. The objective of the pilot scheme is to create a GIS-based management tool which will allow effective planning coordination and cooperation, horizontally and vertically, of all actions which are affected by or involve landmines. The project coordinator will assist the Commission services in implementing and monitoring this process.

The duration of the contract will be 12 months and the duty station will be Luanda, Angola.
