Cohesion Fund award of ECU 91 million for environmental projects in Spain

The Commission has approved approximately ECU 91 million in assistance from the Cohesion Fund for environmental projects in Spain.

Two broad types of project have been approved:

- An incinerator for special waste in Tarragona, with a total eligible volume of ECU 40 million, ...
The Commission has approved approximately ECU 91 million in assistance from the Cohesion Fund for environmental projects in Spain.

Two broad types of project have been approved:

- An incinerator for special waste in Tarragona, with a total eligible volume of ECU 40 million, to which the Cohesion Fund will be contributing ECU 32 million (an aid rate of 80%);

- Five sets of projects to encourage afforestation, control erosion and desertification and regenerate ecosystems damaged by fire. These five groups of projects will be located in the basins of the Duero, the North region, the Ebro, the Jucar-Levante and the Guadiana and will be receiving Community aid of ECU 59 million. The total eligible volume of projects is ECU 80 million and the rate of aid from the Cohesion Fund is either 85% or 80% according to projects.
