The European Commission has selected a total of 134 proposals to receive funding following the JOULE/THERMIE call for proposals for demonstration projects launched in September 1996 (OJ No S 180 of 17.9.1996 p. 35). In all, 289 proposals for demonstration projects in the field of non-nuclear energy were submitted in response to this call. Following the completion of the selection process, 134 of these have been selected to receive funding of nearly ECU 120 million. These are divided between the various areas of the call as follows: - Rational Use of Energy (RUE): 37; - Renewable Energy Sources (RES): 60; - Fossil Fuels (FF): 37. In addition, some 41 projects have been placed on a reserve list. The next call for proposals under the JOULE/THERMIE programme will be launched in September 1997.
