EU-India Economic Cross Cultural Programme

The European Commission, DG IB, has published a call for proposals for projects, to be co-financed by the European Commission, falling within the activities of the EU-India Economic Cross Cultural Programme.

The EU-India Economic Cross Cultural Programme was approved in December 1995. Its aim is to encourage and develop links between European and Indian organizations structured in networks at the university, media and enterprise level in order to contribute to:

- Increasing the visibility of the EU in India, and that of India in Europe, following a two-way approach;
- Helping strengthen a two-way dynamic, cultural and economic presence and reinforce mutual understanding in the two continents.

The programme will cover a period of three years starting from February 1997. A further extension of two years is possible.

Applications to the programme may be submitted by networks of European and Indian registered organizations. The networks must be composed of at least one Indian and two European members. Applications from organizations of SMEs are particularly encouraged. Applications submitted by individuals, even if organized in networks, are not eligible for selection.

Activities eligible for co-financing under the programme will include, among others, exchange programmes (academic staff and students), joint R&D projects, networking activities and training programmes. A full list of eligible activities and priority areas is given in the call notice.

The next call to be launched under this programme will be published in the third quarter of 1998.
