The ACTORES project is an action, supported by the Community's INNOVATION programme, aimed at promoting awareness of the opportunities offered by information and communication technologies (ICTs) for regional, economic and social development.

The project, which will set up a training mechanism on the use of ICT based applications, is aimed essentially at social and economic actors at urban and regional level. The initial target group consists of approximately 500 different social actors belonging to public and private organizations involved in the drafting of strategies for the growth of cities.

The initiative will include the organization of international workshops, the production of a multilingual newsletter and the creation of a permanent multilingual Forum for best practices in ICT use. A training package including user manuals, communications software and presentations of case studies, will be developed as a final product of the training process. This may be used either to support similar initiatives in other countries or regions, or as a distance and open learning tool.
