The Community's BRITE-EURAM programme for RTD in the field of Industrial and Materials Technologies has published a new publication outlining the results of the fifth evaluation study of completed BRITE-EURAM projects. The evaluation, conducted in 1995, covered all projects completed in 1994.

The booklet aims to illustrate not only the achievements of the projects themselves, but also the impact of the programme on transnational cooperation, the involvement of SMEs and encouraging the commercial exploitation of research results.

Figures contained in the report identify general trends. The overall conclusion is that every ECU invested in BRITE-EURAM research produces a potential economic benefit of over four times that value within five years of the completion of the project. The data presented should be of value to potential participants in the programme. It should also help European industry and research institutes to maximise the results of their RTD activities.
