The European Commission, DG III, has published an invitation to tender concerning the second phase of the PROSOMA ESPRIT service for the dissemination of results from the ESPRIT programme.

The Commission has initiated an action to improve the industrial impact of the ESPRIT programme through an ongoing virtual technology exhibition documenting the innovative results of the programme and presenting application scenarios. The contract for phase 1 ends on 30 June 1998. The present call for tender addresses the handover and the future development and operation of the service for the period 15 June 1998 to 30 June 2000. The work will include:

- Takeover and handover: Takeover the operation and maintenance of the existing PROSOMA ESPRIT service; handover to another party at the end of the contract period;
- Content: Proactive gathering of information on results as well as asset collection and development; integration of content into MIB (see point 4, below); provision of production service to respond to result owners' requests;
- User research and impact of the service: Monitoring the impact of the PROSOMA service and the requirements of its (prospective) users;
- MIB and showcase: Development of a new version of the showcases and MIB;
- Promotion of the PROSOMA ESPRIT service: Promotion to result owners and to the identified target audience;
- Dissemination: Disseminating the information in the MIB through multimedia showcases (Web and CD-ROM) and through other publications;
- Operations desk: To provide assistance to the target audience and to result owners;
- Maintenance of the existing hardware and software: Maintaining and upgrading the existing MIB and the showcases (Web and CD-ROM).
