PROSOMA ESPRIT is a new service, launched by the Community's Information Technologies (ESPRIT) programme to facilitate access to and take up of results stemming from ESPRIT projects. It aims to improve the programme's industrial impact by promoting innovation and technology transfer. Two showcases, that are part of the service, one on CD-ROM, one on the Web, are now available.

The PROSOMA ESPRIT CD-ROM Showcase includes three CD-ROMS containing data on over 250 ESPRIT research results. These are presented in a range of media, including text, pictures, video, animations, audio and software demonstrations. Each individual CD-ROM offers the possibility to search the complete set of results, though access to multimedia support material may require access to another CD-ROM. Searches may be conducted either using the free text search, or by business sector, keywords or country of origin.

The PROSOMA ESPRIT Web Showcase is based on the same information as the CD-ROM and is updated weekly. Results are, however, mainly presented in text and pictures to allow fast access. The Web showcase also allows direct links to the CORDIS RTD-Results service, which provides information on research results in all fields of Community-funded research.

The PROSOMA ESPRIT CD-ROM can be installed under either Windows 95 or Windows 3.x.
