The European Commission, DG XII, has published a booklet presenting examples of projects financed under the Community's Framework Programmes for research and technological development. The booklet presents the aims and achievements of 36 projects supported by the European Community in a range of scientific fields, including: agriculture and food; energy; environment; medicine and health; industrial processes; and transport. The projects presented of course reflect only a very small part of the existing activities of the EU in the field of research and technological development. They, nevertheless, provide an indication of the diversity and wealth of the research work being carried out. Easily accessible to readers of all levels, they also aim to highlight the benefits of this research for the European citizen.
