BIOTECH training grants - Further series of awards

The European Commission, DG XII, has awarded a further 24 training grants under its specific RTD programme in the field of Biotechnology (BIOTECH) following the November 1997 evaluation.

The European Commission, DG XII, has awarded a further 24 training grants under its specific RTD programme in the field of Biotechnology (BIOTECH) following the November 1997 evaluation.

The call for proposals for BIOTECH training grants was initially launched in March 1995, with proposals being evaluated at four-monthly intervals. A total of 47 applications were submitted by the closing date of 1 November 1997, from which 24 were selected to receive grants.

This latest set of awards brings the total number of BIOTECH training grants, since March 1995, to almost 300, worth a total of some ECU 24 million. The next batch of evaluations will be carried out on proposals received by 1 March 1998, with one further evaluation after 1 July 1998.
