Programme funding

EUR 33 million
The programme aims at :
- the development of microtechnological products and methods in different branches (medicine, telecommunication, machinery etc.)
- co-operations to use the synergies in complex tasks.
- integration of Austrian SMEs in international, industrial networks in microtechnology.


Budget: 11 M EUR per annum for 2001.
The budget spent for RTD projects on nanotechnology was 1.03 M EUR in 2001 (10% of the overall budget).


The following fields of activity are covered:
- Product and method improvements in micro- and macroproducts with microsystems
- Production technologies of microsystems
- Key-technologies
- Occupational skill enhancement activities
- New applications for new and existing products in the microtechnological field
- Improving of technological processes to microtechnology
- Use of new measuring methods and testing equipment for monitoring systems
- Academic spin-off programmes


The following organisations are addressed to apply for the programme:
- Companies
- Researchers and research institutions
The projects submitted will be evaluated by the FFF-jury. The following criteria will be taken into account:

- Contribution to the overall goal
- Technical novelty and level of innovation
- Appropriateness, clarity and consistency of the method
- Professional aptitude and managerial skill
- Quality of the presentation of possible barriers to implementation

- Market potential
- Co-financing quota
- Potential for implementation of planned co-operation
- Overall contribution to Austria's national economy
