Biomass-based climate change mitigation through renewable energy

Objective

The main objective of this accompanying measure involves making available a standard methodology, user-friendly software tool and case study material for analysing the greenhouse gas balances and subsequent emission-saving cost effectiveness of a range of prominent biomass energy technologies, thereby assisting their widespread propagation throughout the European Union as a means of expanding renewable energy supplies and as a way of mitigating global climate change. This will enable a wide range of users to conduct such important assessments with relative ease and will foster confidence in subsequent results amongst a broad audience of industry practitioners, scheme developers, policy-makers and European Union citizens.
