Objective
EUROTOWN Adventure is an information system designed to communicate historical, cultural and linguistic knowledge to young learners in the form of an interactive adventure. In the Implementation Phase of EUROTOWN, a compact disc will be produced, presenting a challenging multi-media exploration of the English Channel region beginning with the opening of EUROCHANNEL and moving back through history. Using dramatic dialogues, authentic music, colour graphics and photography, the title will communicate structured information through a fully interactive adventure which has been specially designed to stimulate young learners.
The title will be a co-production between Pilgrims, UK and SDC Informatique, France. It will embody the learner centred, humanistic pedagogy of Pilgrims. SDC Informatique brings to the project the talent and experience for organizing and structuring large amounts of information already demonstrated in their CD-ROM,"La Guerre d'Algerie." in addition, the production will benefit from the talents of the writer, David Booth, who has authored a number of highly regarded language learning methods for Editions Nathan in France, and the sound producer Karel Beer, creator of the multi-media production, "L'espirit de la Revolution" for the French Ministry of Culture.
