Objective
The MAPA project is to market, design, develop and distribute an interactive multimedia guide for the maintenance of paper machines.
The end product will be delivered on a CD-ROM (ISO 9660) on both Macintosh and PC/Windows platforms. MAPA will describe the functions and working principles of a paper machine, its integrated technologies, its main and detailed parts, and its technical main evolutions.
This guide will be used by all European and International paper manufacturers (tissue paper, newsprint paper, print paper), education world, and scientists, specialised in paper production/management. It will allow the user to easily understand, attractively and intuitively learn, and practice through simulation based sections the overall architecture, the functions and the maintenance operations of paper manufacturing machines.
As far as English is the language mostly used in technical maintenance guides, English will be the native supported interface language of MAPA. However, if the market requires other languages, those languages will be implemented.
MAPA's project is undertaken by 3 partners:
HyperOffice a French company, is a highly experienced multimedia developer (HyperOffice will be coordinating organisation, will provide its methodology, define the user interface and technical architecture, develop the interactive multimedia guide.);
Hellacel, a Greek company, provides high quality consulting and research in wood, paper and cellulose processing (Hellacel will define the detailed content of the MAPA's guide and organise the commercialisation of this guide.);
Komotini Paper Mill is a major Greek ecological oriented tissue paper manufacturer and will place its machinery, expertise and installations at the disposal of the partners.
