Objetivo
Europe Live is a series of CD-i and CD-ROM discs produced by New Media and Telemedia. The Europe Live series is based on the modern history of Europe. Through the discs, people can explore key events in the history of Europe, and encounter at first hand key events and personalities.
Although the Europe Live series has a clear educational focus, the emphasis in user interaction is on entertainment. The title takes some of the conventions of computer games in order to lead and stimulate the user through the mass of information contained on the disc.
In the case of 'Operation Gold' - the first of the 'Europe Live'series, the game format is a simulation game, in which the player is hot on the trail of a secret that has laid hidden since the 1960's. The trail leads you through the DDR State Archive, through video material such as JFK's "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech, and an "interview" with Willy Brandt.
As an introduction to the game, the user may "travel around" Berlin on the way to collecting clues and information.
All of the material included in 'Operation Gold' is owned by or licensed from members of the Bertelsmann publishing group, to which Telemedia belongs.
The proposal is for the production of the product on 2 platforms - CD-i and CD-ROM.
