The project has developed the necessary prototype infrastructure (software applications and hardware modules RFID Readers/Labels) providing a set of value added electronic services to consumers and advanced marketing facilities to retailers and suppliers. Thus, the main outcome of MyGROCER can be summarized in the following that have been deployed and tested upon real conditions in Greece (ATLANTIC Super Market) and Finland (TRADEKA Super Market), during the Trials:
(A)An in-store application that allows the consumers to manage the products of their shopping cart through a touch screen device while they are in a supermarket, using RFID technology to automatic identify the in out products (RFID labels are placed in the product packages, while RFID Readers embedded in the shopping cart are also used). Additionally the application allows the consumer to receive targeted promotions based on his/ her profile (purchasing habits, preferences)
(B)An in-store navigation application that allows the consumers to perform virtual trails through a hand-held device, while they are in the store.
(C)A smart home application used by the consumer at his/her home in order to monitor the consumers inventory based on replenishment rules that are defined by the consumer. RFID technology is also used in that case to retrieve information about the in out products placed on the shelves.
(D)An on the move application that allows the consumers to manage their automatic generated home shopping lists.
(E)A consumer behaviour analysis and promotions management tool that allows the retailers and the suppliers to identify consumers purchasing habits and apply targeted promotions.
(F)The prototype RFID infrastructure used for the in store as well as the at home applications to identify products (RFID Readers & RFID Labels placed in the product packages).
(G)Four Back Office applications to support the systems administration facilities from the retailer headquarter, the retailer local store, the supplier and the MyGROCER Administrator.
(H)All the above offered as a service in an integrated environment.
