European knowledge centre for growth and investment readiness of digital content businesses

Objective

The READY4GROWTH project addressed the challenge for effective business planning and the development of successful investment proposals by e-content companies in view of the lack of proven business models for this sector. The project brought together the expertise of growing high-tech companies from leading incubators in five regions of Europe to develop the following:

Establish a new network of knowledge centres in five incubators across Europe to provide a new focus for the support of business planning and entrepreneurship for the e-content sector;

Develop a new manual of best practice based on a series of modules reflecting the specific business growth model of the e-content sector (1,500 copies);

Develop a series of six 3-day seminars based on the modules and involving key experts in entrepreneurship, to be rolled out in the five knowledge centres, attended by 400 e-content SMEs;

Develop an on-line knowledge platform to support wider access to the resources of the knowledge centres.

The outcomes resulted in investor confidence in e-content entrepreneurs, leading to increased levels of investment. Actions were taken for extensive marketing and distribution of the knowledge centre (KC) products and services and opportunities for wider rollout of the KC concept across Europe and the CEC.
