Objective
An attempt is to be made to produce sinters with SiO2 contents of less than 5 %. Sinter properties such as strength, reducibility and fusion characteristics, and blast-furnace function, such as blast-furnace working, coke consumption, slag formation and Si reduction, will be examined. The studies are to be carried out in a large blast furnace with a hearth diameter of 13.6 meters and in a smaller blast furnace, both fitted with modern measuring equipment.
