Objective

The project is aimed at testing on a model an original continuous caster for thin strip based on the casting of a film of liquid steel coming from a distributor with a narrow slot on a steel belt cooled by water from the bottom and rotating at high speed. The characteristics would be as follows: belt-speed: 20 to 40 m per minute, width 150 to 200 mm; nominal thickness: 5 to 10 mm; stand length 10 to 26 m. The steel will be produced in a 150 kg induction furnace. An industrial pilot project will be developed.
