Objective
In this project methods of improving energy process control in the operation of arc furnaces will be developed. During melting the arc output will be set to the highest possible value. Where scrap melting is uneven, the arc output will be set to non-symmetrical values. It will also be investigated whether the height of foam slag can be monitoring by arc reactances calculated by the measuring system. The research and development work will be carried out in several electric melting shops. The expected results is a reduction in specific energy consumption for electric steel production.
