The mechanical and metallurgical effects of skin passing and tension levelling

Objective

The effects of combinations of different degrees of skin passing and tension levelling on the yield strength, ductility and residual stress levels within the strip are imperfectly understood. Thus, the better control of these processes is necessary to obtain products suitable for the customer needs. It is proposed, therefore, to improve this understanding and develop strategies for control of the production operations involving full-scale plant investigations. To cover the full product range from light gauge tinplate to hot rolled plate, several different plants will be involved.
