Objective

The objective of the proposed research is to develop a range of low cost steels by avoiding the use of expensive alloy additions such as Ni and Cr. The influence of alloying elements such as B, Mn, V and Ti will be evaluated. The behaviour of welded plate joints (50 to 125 mm thick) of high strength grades (1000 MPa) will also be studied.
