Production of thin slabs

Obiettivo

The aim of this project is the further development of the casting of steel strip with a thickness of less than or equal to 50 mm between two rotating rolls. The following research phases are planned: - Preparation of a feasibility study and development of a mathematical casting model; - construction of the pilot plant and operational testing; - installation of the run-in system and lateral leak-tightness; - commissioning of plant and start of casting tests. The plan is to cast slabs of approximately 400 mm in width. The diameter of the cast-iron rolls is approximately 1.5 m. The slabs will be between 5 and 30 mm thick.
