Objective
The aim of the project is to develop a process for producing thin strips (76 mm x 2 mm) in an horizontal mill utilising a molten metal feed in the form of a slurry. Tests will be made on the method of producing slurries, on feeding to the mill, pool depth and edge control, rolling speed and heat dissipation. The cast product will be used to manufacture welded tubes. In order to assure the continuity in the development of this work, a starting date of 1st April 1987 is proposed.
