Objective
The objectives of this project are :
- to carry out research into methods for improving the efficiency and fuel utilisation and reduction of NOX in cement kilns by fuel and burner development and optimisation;
- to develop a new fuel for the cement industry based on blends of European coals with alternative waste fuels such as sewage sludge and plastic waste;
- to investigate the performance of European coats in comparison with other coals and fuels which find an increased use in the cement industry.
The research programme comprises fuel and burner evaluation, laboratory tests, semi-industrial scale experiments and full scale testing.
