Objectif
Production of ettringite - based materials from the solid residues from coal-fired power stations. Ettringite is a material with potentially wide applications in the manufacture of cements, plasters and fillers.
The following activities will be carried out:
- Collection and characterisation of feed materials : A range of coal ashes and gypsum products will be assembled from both conventional and novel plant, fluidised bed combustors and plant employing sorbent injection systems.
- Laboratory-scale study of the synthesis of ettringite -based materials.
- Testing of the ettringite-based materials to evaluate their use in cements, binders/plasters and inert filters/fibres.
Potential markets for the new products will then be identified by means of market research and the market testing of the new products.
