Architectures for heterogeneous European distributed databases.

Objective

This was a fairly ambitious project aiming to cover a variety of topics including : specification of high level languages for data definition and data manipulation, studying methods for integrating the DDL's and DML's (data definition languages and data manipulation languages) of DDBMSs (distributed database management systems), the techniques of local management in a heterogeneous context and for predicting DDB performance.

The project produced many reports. The more significant ones were probably those concerned with :
- DML/DDL for distributed databases (DDBs);
- Data models;
- Object directory;
- Advanced user interface;
- DDBMS architecture;
- Performance models;
- Standardized communication service.
