Recovery of metallic aluminium from its drosses by an eddy current separator

Objective

Increasing of quantity and quality of metallic aluminium recovered from its dross to make possible the remelting of metallic fraction in the basin or crucible furnaces instead of using rotary furnace with NaC1 salt.

The aim of the proejct is to study to install and start up a pilot plant to prove the possibility to use eddy current technology to separate metallic aluminium from its dross. Avoiding the usual crushing and screening of dross, these operations being polluting and expensive.

f Obtaining from ECS a metallic fraction with high content of Al (90-95%) and high cleaness it is possible the remelting of metallic fraction in standard furnaces instead of the use of rotary furnace avoiding the use of NaC1 salt and the production of black dross being highly pollutant for the water source and with a reduction of energy for the remelting.
