Objective
OBJECTIVES
Continually subject to restructuring, the footwear industry has been losing 2.5% of its jobs every year for around ten years; this is five times more than the average in manufacturing industry. This project proposes to set up training partnerships involving regional agents from five regions of the EU which are highly dependent on the footwear industry and are thus weakened by the industrial changes affecting this sector. The objective is to anticipate training requirements and to adapt the training offer to these requirements with the aim of permitting the re-training, within or outside the sector, of certain people.
ACTIVITIES
The partners will first carry out a study which will make it possible to anticipate the training requirements in the footwear industry for each Member State and then for the entire EU. These results will then be compared with the types of training offered and with the qualification levels of employees in companies which are in the process of being restructured. By comparing training requirements, training offers and existing profiles, it will be possible to develop training modules which can be adapted to the requirements of each region.
PRODUCTS
Two directly exploitable products will result from the project:
- A European consolidated report on training requirements in the footwear industry.
- Training modules based on the data obtained.
