Development of training and certification methodologies and career development packages in the European livestock industries

Objective

OBJECTIVES
Cattle breeding in Europe faces numerous problems in terms of training. It is impossible for breeders to take time off for external training. The direct consequence of this lack of training is felt in terms of the competitiveness of businesses and careers which seem to be leading nowhere. For this reason, the project aims to improve training practices by creating appropriate tools for training in the workplace and to get this training validated throughout the EU.

ACTIVITIES
Initially, the partners will analyse the skills needs which exist in this sector. They will try to respond to these through the creation of appropriate training tools which can be used in the workplace. These tools will be inserted into training modules which will be tested on a sample group of breeders and farmers. The training of trainers forms an integral part of the project. Once the modules have been finalised, they will be translated into the languages of the partner countries. The aim is to have the training offered and the skills which it imparts recognised by the Member States of the EU. Eventually, the modules will be inserted into existing training programmes for breeders and farmers.

PRODUCTS
Self-training and open and distance training, based on the use of multimedia tools, will be produced, evaluated and distributed. Exercises measuring the skills acquired will form part of the training tools created.
