Objective
OBJECTIVES
As the importance of the ecological dimension of our society grows, the tourism sector in Europe is currently called upon to restructure itself significantly. This study therefore proposes to contribute to the development of ecological tourism management strategies and the establishment of a process of re-training for professionals in the sector. The partners therefore propose to develop an appropriate initial and continuing ecological training which corresponds to the needs of companies active in the sector. The study will determine the needs in terms of ecology qualifications for those employed by the tourism sector, and the necessary conditions for the transfer of method and results to other European regions.
ACTIVITIES
In an initial phase, the study will identify qualification needs amongst businesses in the sector and will organise seminars in order to work through future scenarios. The partners will then define the qualifications and key skills needed by comparing the trends identified with the real level of knowledge amongst managers, and with the contents of curricula in tourism schools. On the basis of the results of the various analyses and professional profiles which will thus be built up, the partners will formulate, in line with national and regional specificities, proposals for the implementation of training measures corresponding to the needs of their target audience.
RESULTS
Documentation concerning the various surveys and analyses which have been carried out; seminars organised; description of case studies; comparison of European training systems in tourism; assessment of qualification needs; proposals for training measures.
