Objective
Current education structures are not sufficiently flexible to provide relevant vocational training for mobile fairground employees. To satisfy the need for appropriate training, a multimedia-based platform is currently being developed under the auspices of the TOPILOT project, funded by DG XIII of the European Commission. The platform enables trainers to monitor their trainees from a distance. However, the absence of suitable learning packages has limited its potential use.
The partners of the TRAFE project aim to develop two learning packages which will make use of the new telematic service. They will be designed to permit regular contact between the employee and his or her trainer through a mobile data-communication network, thus respecting the mobile nature of fairground employment. The project will draw on a range of expertise and use the Internet. The two learning packages and support materials will deal with fairground electronics and business skills for fairground employees. The packages will be developed in Dutch, English and German.
Impact
Although the training will not at first correspond to national curricula, it will enhance the employability of fairground employees and support the process of lifelong learning.
