Objective
There is a need to develop and implement innovative ways of providing individuals with the "core skills" (i.e. communication, IT, working with others, improving own learning and performance) necessary to survive in the emerging flexible labour market. The project will explore training methods developed by providers in the arts, cultural and communications sector which provide trainees/students with "core skills", and the potential of this as the basis for training in other industry sectors.
The approach will encompass:
- identifying learning outcomes in training in the arts sector (and consultation across the EU);
- matching these to core skills and competences;
- identifying relevant training methodologies used by arts training providers (in 3 EU member states) to develop these learning outcomes / core skills / competences;
- developing modules based on these methodologies but applicable across other industry sectors;
- a conference to explore, test and refine the work to date;
- piloting the modules in a specific industry sector (airport security at 3 airports across the EU);
- producing a CD-Rom package based on the results of the piloting;
- and a full report.
Impact
Training developed by the arts sector may be, by definition, potentially more innovative and creative and therefore have a great potential to be effective in other sectors.
